These states are usually referred to as <strong>High and low<\/strong> or as <strong>1 and 0<\/strong> is displayed. The signal typically has the form of a <strong>square wave signal<\/strong>, in which there is a change between two fixed voltage levels. The two states serve as information carriers in digital systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The information is provided either by the current level of the signal or by the <strong>Transitions between the levels (signal edges)<\/strong> are transmitted. In many technical applications, these edges are used specifically to control functions or trigger events. Typical examples are<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rising edge (Low \u2192 High):<\/strong> can trigger a switching operation such as \u201eOn\u201c, \u201eStart\u201c or \u201eTrigger\u201c.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Descending edge (High \u2192 Low):<\/strong> can signal a switching operation such as \u201eOff\u201c, \u201eStop\u201c or the end of an event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Binary signals form the basis of the <strong>digital information processing and data transmission<\/strong>. They are used in control systems, digital interfaces, counter inputs or clock signals, among other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the <strong>Measurement and automation technology<\/strong> Binary signals are often used to record <strong>Switching states, pulses or events<\/strong> used. Typical applications include the evaluation of limit switches, status signals from machines or pulses from sensors.
