The CAN bus was originally developed for the <strong>Automotive industry<\/strong>, today, however, it is used in numerous areas of the <strong>Industrial, automation and building technology<\/strong> to the established communication standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Communication takes place via <strong>Short data packets<\/strong> with high <strong>Transmission security<\/strong> and integrated <strong>Error detection:<\/strong>. This makes the CAN bus particularly suitable for applications in which a <strong>Stable and fast data communication<\/strong> is required under demanding environmental conditions. The bus structure is <strong>linear<\/strong> and is connected at both ends with <strong>120 ohm terminating resistors<\/strong> terminated to avoid signal reflections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The maximum cable length depends on the transmission speed used. Typical values are, for example, approx. <strong>40 m at 1 MBit\/s<\/strong> or up to <strong>500 m at 125 kBit\/s<\/strong>. The number of possible participants depends on the driver modules used and the respective system architecture. With commercially available components, up to <strong>128 participants<\/strong> realize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Due to its high <strong>Interference immunity<\/strong>, <strong>Real-time capability<\/strong> and <strong>Robust communication<\/strong> the CAN bus has proven itself in networked control and automation solutions in particular. The CAN bus also plays an important role in products from Delphin Technology AG. In the <strong>Measurement and data acquisition systems of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.delphin.de\/en\/products\/measuring-testing-devices\/modular-data-acquisition-profimessage-d\/\" data-type=\"produkt\" data-id=\"1257\">ProfiMessage series<\/a><\/strong> it is used, for example, as <strong>Internal communication bus between CPU and I\/O modules<\/strong> and to the <strong>Communication between master and slave devices<\/strong> is used.
