It acts as a gateway between different network segments and ensures that devices and applications can communicate with each other across network boundaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike a <strong>Stroke<\/strong> or <strong>Switch<\/strong>, which primarily forward or distribute data packets, a gateway analyzes the incoming information and processes it as needed before forwarding it. This allows different network protocols, address ranges, or communication standards to be interconnected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A gateway uses defined rules to determine where data packets should be sent and whether any adjustments or conversions are necessary.
