Automated Calibration Processes for Blast Furnace Thermocouples

Calibration in the Steel Industry—Automated, Audit-Compliant, and Reproducible

In this video, we present a challenging customer application in the steel industry. There, thermocouples used in blast furnaces are automatically calibrated using our Delphin technology.

We use our Loggito Logger - with multiple analog inputs for precise measurement of thermoelectric voltages. The hardware is complemented by our software platform ProfiSignal as well as a custom SQL database.

The customer has several calibration ovens. For each oven, calibration templates (e.g., temperature steps such as 10 °C / 20 °C / 30 °C) and sensor data lists can be created. The calibration process starts automatically—including stabilization detection, measurement data acquisition, and direct logging of all test data into the SQL database.

Upon completion, a report is automatically generated, including a pass/fail evaluation based on the specified tolerances. Thanks to the user-friendly interface, the customer can perform the calibrations completely on their own—in compliance with audit requirements and industry standards.

This application impressively demonstrates how Delphin solutions make calibration processes efficient, safe, and reproducible—even under extreme industrial conditions.
