Precise measurement and data recording via GPS

The combination of measured value acquisition and GPS data recording enables the exact assignment of measured values to geographical positions. By integrating GPS technology into measurement systems, location information can be precisely recorded and linked to measurement data. This opens up new possibilities for analysis, visualization and evaluation - especially in fields of application such as environmental monitoring, geology or logistics, where location-based data is crucial. GPS-based measurement data acquisition increases the efficiency, accuracy and informative value of your measurement projects - and thus creates a sound basis for reliable decisions.

What advantages does GPS data recording with Delphin offer you?

  • Record precise location data: With a GPS measuring device, measured values can be precisely assigned geographically - ideal for applications where GPS data is indispensable.
  • Time-synchronized data acquisition: Measurement and GPS data are precisely timed - for reliable analysis without manual post-processing.
  • Sound basis for decision-making: The combination of measured values and GPS position data enables comprehensive evaluation and well-founded decisions to be made in real time or retrospectively.
  • Flexible mobile use: The GPS measuring device can be operated on the move, e.g. in vehicles, using a simple 12 VDC power supply - perfect for mobile measurement campaigns.
  • Versatile application possibilities: Whether environmental monitoring, geology or logistics - GPS measurement provides precise, location-based data in all areas.
  • Individually scalable systems: From a few to over 1,000 measuring channels - the solution adapts to your needs.
  • Simple visualization and evaluation: Direct display of GPS and measurement data in the Delphin software - including position, speed and power. Position data can also be displayed in Google Earth.
  • Automatic positioning: Thanks to NMEA-compatible GPS sensors, the system calculates longitude, latitude and speed completely autonomously.
  • Seamless integration: GPS data is available as software channels and can be flexibly linked with other measured values.

Precise location information plays an important role in certain areas. Typical areas of application are

  • GPS and combined data acquisition in trains
  • GPS data loggers in vehicles
  • Measurements during floor tests
  • Diagnosis of effects with position-changing machines
  • Monitoring for loaned machines
  • Test measurement in the field (forklift trucks, tractors, construction machinery)
  • Field testing of alternative drive systems in vehicles

Practical example of GPS data acquisition

Soil analysis with GPS-supported conductivity measurement

The Institute of Ornamental Plants and Vegetable Crops uses state-of-the-art technology to analyze soil quality in a targeted manner. A special measuring vehicle was developed for research purposes, which drives independently over the areas to be examined. An innovative electrode system records the electrical conductivity of the soil - an important indicator of soil structure and moisture distribution. The principle: while driving, the system feeds alternating current into the soil and measures the return flows across several axes. At the same time, the Vibration meter Delphin precisely records the associated GPS position data and all relevant process parameters in real time. As a result, each measured value is assigned exactly to a location in the field - a valuable prerequisite for pinpoint analysis. The results can then be evaluated directly with the Delphin software. The data is loaded from the device memory and displayed as a clear xy color diagram - conductivity distributions in the soil become visible at a glance.
