Analog signal

A Analog signal is a time and value-continuous measurement, regulation or control signal whose information content is represented by a physical, constantly changing signal curve. Both the time axis and the signal value can assume any intermediate value.

Typically, the time (x-axis) represents the temporal progression, while the signal value (y-axis) represents a physical quantity such as temperature, pressure, voltage or current. Analogue signals are often used in measurement technology, control engineering and automation, as they describe real physical processes directly and without quantization.
