I/O module

A I/O module (Input/Output module) or I/O Module (Input/Output Module) is a hardware component for acquiring and outputting electrical signals. It serves as an interface between a measurement, control, or automation system and the connected sensors or actuators.

Measurement values, switch states, or other process signals can be acquired through the inputs of an I/O module. The outputs, on the other hand, allow control commands or signals to be sent to external devices such as relays, valves, motors, or warning systems.
