Reliable process data acquisition

Process data acquisition allows important process parameters to be monitored, stored and analyzed. This enables process monitoring to be set up, processes to be improved and faults to be detected at an early stage. The quality of the results is particularly determined by the right choice of measurement technology and software.

Depending on the production process, different parameters are recorded and evaluated, for example to analyze a completed reaction, monitor processes or control continuous runs. Finally, product quality is to be determined using test benches during development or in end-of-line tests.

Typical areas of application for process data acquisition

  • Process monitoring to determine the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Record process deviations and analyze and document them in real time
  • Continuously record machine data
  • Fault analysis with alarm management
  • Simultaneously record process data and energy consumption
  • Measurement technology for test benches during development and end-of-line tests

What is important for process data acquisition

Integration into the infrastructure: Connection of process data acquisition to an existing infrastructure or to existing control systems.

Reliable data acquisition: Capture data for quality assurance autonomously and independently of a PC and store it securely without data loss, even if the network fails.

Trace data seamlessly: Seamless recording, storage and tracing of measurement data, e.g. from cleanrooms for traceability or in accordance with FDA Part 11 regulations.

High measuring accuracy: Adjustable measuring intervals with 24-bit resolution for high absolute measuring accuracy.

Trigger conspicuous measured values: Record the pre- and post-history of conspicuous measured values with a high measured value recording rate very precisely in terms of time and save the data separately.

Measuring device and software support for process data acquisition

The Loggito Logger is a very compact measuring device (95 x 67 x 65 mm) that can even fit into cramped control cabinets or decentralized locations. It has four or eight universal analog inputs (mV, mA, thermocouples, Pt100, Pt1000) and an internal memory for autonomous operation. The Loggito logger is open for various protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, ASCII.

The ProfiSignal software offers important analysis, visualization and automation functions for process data acquisition:

  • ProfiSignal Basic for visualization with charts, trend diagrams, etc. Processes can be mapped using customizable dashboards like a compact SCADA system.
  • ProfiSignal Klicks is used to automate processes. Users can create their own applications via context menus without having to learn a programming language.
  • Interfaces to databases: Measurement data can be transferred directly to relational databases, ERP or MES systems via an ODBC interface.
  • Alarm management with numerous alarm functions in conjunction with process data acquisition. Process-relevant alarms are clearly visualized, with notification of responsible persons, acknowledgement and comment functions and an analysis of historical alarms.
