1. Data acquisition in the field - stable with PROFIBUS DPV1
The first step in every measurement data chain begins directly at the system. Sensors record physical variables and forward them to measurement and data acquisition systems.
The Delphin systems such as Expert Logger, Expert Vibro, Expert Transient and ProfiMessage D can be accessed via PROFIBUS DPV1 into existing automation and control systems.
What does PROFIBUS DPV1 mean?
PROFIBUS is a widely used industrial fieldbus. The DPV1 extension also enables the fast exchange of process data:
- Diagnostic information
- Parameterization data
- Service and maintenance information
And all this during operation, without stopping the system.

High availability through redundancy
For particularly critical applications, Delphin systems support a Redundant PROFIBUS connection. If one connection fails, the second connection automatically takes over. This keeps data transmission stable and fail-safe - an important factor for continuous production processes.
2. Central measurement data management - the Delphin Data Center
All measurement data runs in the Delphin Data Center together. This central platform takes over:
- Reliable recording of measurement data
- Long-term storage
- Evaluation and analysis
- Transfer to visualization, IT systems and cloud
Data transmission is encrypted - both:
- between the DAQ devices and the Delphin Data Center
- as well as between the visualization ProfiSignal 20 and the Data Center
Current safety standards such as SSL/TLS for use.
Practical example
In a production hall, several measuring devices record temperatures, pressures and vibrations.
This data is automatically transferred to the Delphin Data Center and stored there. The values are visualized via ProfiSignal 20:
- Trends are immediately visible
- Alarms inform when limit values are exceeded
- Historical data is available for analyses and reports
All data remains traceable, protected and centrally available.
3. Data security even in the event of network faults
In practice, networks are not always stable. Short-term outages, maintenance work or server problems can occur.
Delphin DAQ systems therefore have a internal, fail-safe data storage in industrial quality.
What does that mean in concrete terms?
- Measurement data is saved locally in the device, even if there is no network connection.
- As soon as the connection is available again, the data is transferred automatically.
- There are no data gaps.

4. Securely into the cloud - with OPC UA
For the exchange of production data with IT systems and cloud platforms, the OPC UA established as an international standard. It enables:

Measurement data can be securely transmitted to higher-level systems or cloud platforms via the OPC UA interface of the Delphin Data Center - also encrypted, of course.
