CAN

CAN | The CAN bus is one of the field buses and is a serial, asynchronous bus system. The CAN bus is described as a real-time capable bus. Small data packets are transmitted. The theoretical length is 40 m at 1 Mbit/s and 500 m at 125 kbit/s. The maximum number of participants at the physical level depends on the bus participants and their driver modules. Up to 128 subscribers can be achieved with standard components. The bus structure itself is linear. The bus is terminated with 120 Ohm resistors. The CAN bus is a standard bus in many areas (e.g. in the automotive industry). The CAN bus has established itself primarily due to its data security. In ProfiMessage devices, the CAN bus is used as a communication bus between master-slave devices and internally between the I/O modules and the CPU.
