Fieldbus

Fieldbus | Bus system in automation technology that connects field devices in a system, e.g. sensors or actuators, with other field components such as an automation device. Communication is regulated according to the master-slave principle. Standardized protocols define who may transmit which data and when: Identifier/address = who, measured value/command = what, initiative/query + reaction/response = when.
