Sigma-delta converter

Sigma-delta converter

Sigma-delta converter | The functional principle is based on the fact that the signal is sampled at a very high frequency. This sampling frequency, which is in the range of several MHz, i.e. far above the Nyquist frequency resulting from the sampling theorem, is offset by a resolution of only one bit. Subsequent digital low-pass filtering considerably increases the resolution, while at the same time reducing the data rate. The application range of sigma-delta A/D converters is at sampling frequencies of up to 100 kHz and conversion accuracies of up to 24 bits.
